Soroptimist Club Grants for Women and Girls

For the 2003-2004 club year, $175,000 in Soroptimist Club Grants for Women and Girls were given to Soroptimist club projects that benefit women and girls. Thirty-eight projects received grant funds in amounts ranging from $500-$10,000 for initiating or continuing innovative service projects that advance the status of women. Sample projects include refurbishing domestic violence shelters, providing job training for women in transition, financing legal services for low-income women, furnishing mammograms to women with no health insurance, and sponsoring enrichment programs for at-risk girls.
